New Song: Hands of Grace

This week we’ll be singing a new song together called “Hands of Grace” by Exalt Worship. It’s a prayerful, gospel-centered song that’s saturated with truths from Scripture—one of the clearest being Galatians 2:20.

Galatians 2:20

"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
When we repent of our sin and place our hope and faith in Jesus alone for salvation, our lives no longer belong to us—they belong to Him. As Paul says, it is “Christ who lives in me.” That truth drives this song from start to finish.

Verse 1 begins by acknowledging God as our Creator. Apart from Him we are but dust (Psalm 103:14), and everything we are—even in our brokenness—belongs to Him.

Empty hands
All I am is dust without You
Broken heart
Every piece belongs to You

The pre-chorus reminds us that God not only created us—He is also the One who is conforming us to the image of Jesus. As we sing, we’re asking Him to strip away pride and help us find true freedom in the life He gives.

Strip away all pride,
Until I’m truly free
This life is crucified
No longer I, but Christ in me

The chorus declares God’s worthiness of our worship. He is loving, faithful, and merciful. He is the potter and we are the clay, and in His goodness He shapes and molds us for His glory (Romans 8:28–29).

Father, worthy of praise
Your love so faithful, mercy so great
Potter, You break and remake
Lord, have Your way
My heart yields as clay
In Your hands of grace

Verse 2 turns our attention to Calvary. Through the cross, sin and darkness have been defeated—they no longer have the final word (1 Corinthians 15:55). Because of His grace and power, we ask Him to help us live lives of full surrender.

Through the cross
Sin and darkness have no power
By Your grace
Help us live in full surrender

The bridge is essentially a prayer. As we sing it, we’re asking God to take our lives and empower us by His Spirit to live for His glory. We trust that in all He does—in us and through us—He is ultimately working for our good. It’s about His purpose, His will, and being used for His kingdom.

Make me a vessel unto honor
Filled with the Holy Spirit’s power
Trusting that You are working
All things for my good

Continue to mold me as You will
Until Your purpose is fulfilled
Shape me into Your image
In Your hands of grace

My prayer is that as we sing this song together this week—and in the weeks to come—we would, as our mission statement says: be amazed by God’s grace and compelled to reflect the love of Jesus.
